Hello and welcome to the first blog post for ArGyll Consulting.
First, a little about me. I’m originally from the beautiful New England Tablelands but I've spent the last 10 years skipping between Canada, uni in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Canberra and soon to head to Katherine, NT.
I have a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Queensland and 6 years of experience putting it into practice helping beef, sugar and grain producers in Queensland become more profitable while looking after their land and natural resources. I've also spent time working for the United Stated Department of Agriculture (whose idiosyncrasies probably deserve a post of their own!) and in economic development for local government.
Now that my Phd thesis is safely in the hands of the examiners, I’ve decided to embark on a new challenge – to take all the knowledge and skills I’ve learnt in the last 10 years of university and real-world experience and combine them into offering economic services for agricultural producers, industry and regional development organisations.
I hope to blog a couple of times month, on current topics in agriculture, regional development and natural resource management as well as some tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way.
Feedback, questions and comments are more than welcome, either here, via email firstname.lastname@example.org or on twitter @becgowen
So here goes!
